Memorial Bench for Daniel Richmond
18th of March, 2022
My name is Barbara Richmond. My son Daniel was born, lived and went to school in Whittle-Le-Woods and was killed on Runshaw Lane, Euxton by a speeding driver. Daniel was 35 years old.
I would like to thank so many people for their help, kindness and support.
Thank you to Lindsay Hoyle, MP and Speaker of the House of Commons who I went to see and asked for his help in getting the speed limit reduced on Runshaw Lane from 60 mph to 30 mph. He was very kind and supported and succeeded in getting the speed limit reduced to 30mph where Daniel was killed; and the rest of Runshaw Lane reduced from 60mph to 40mph. I hope that the people who live on Runshaw Lane feel much safer.
Thank you to Whittle-Le-Woods Parish Councillor, Bill Yates, for his kindness and perseverance in getting permission from Lancashire County Council for a bench on the A6 in memory of Daniel; and to the man who made the bench and his family; the man who put the bench in its place; to my neighbours , Daniel’s friends, my friends in Whittle-Le-Woods, for their kindness and continuing support “Thank you”.
